On June 7, 1947, she married the love of her life, Joe Foster Wilson, who was stationed with the U.S. Air Force mission in Santiago. She taught French and Spanish at Edinburg High School in the '60s and '70s and taught Spanish at Pan American University in the '70s.

In retirement, they moved to Austin in 1982, where they lived for over 30 years. She and Joe loved to travel the U.S. and the world, including trips for genealogical research and for Joe's woodworking crafts.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Ethel; and half-sister, Aida; and her husband of 55 years. Mary is survived by her sons, Chester of Austin, Richard and Becky of Carbondale, Illinois, Paul and Marilyn of Friendswood; and nephew, Erik and Violetta Martinez of London, Ontario; 6 grandsons, 2 great grandchildren, 2 grandnephews, and a great grandnephew and great grandniece.
