Obituary

Mary Whitney (Bloom) deMunecas departed this life for her eternal rest on February 01 2014 from complications related to cardiac arrest. Mary was born in Johnstown, PA, to Eva Sylvania (Brown) Bloom and Ira Wade Bloom. She was a graduate of Indiana University of Indiana, Pennsylvania in 1958 with a BA in Home Economics. At New York University, NY, NY, she earned an MA in Education.

Mary's lifetime was filled with a rich variety of entrepreneurial and artistic projects, businesses and educational positions. She retired in 1999 from Cornell University Cooperative Extension program, where she created a vast array of community support projects, environmental education programs, and arts programs for both youth and adult populations.

Mary was an active member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Melbourne, FL, and the Seaside Piecemakers Quilting Organization. She was a tireless advocate for persons with disabilities and Veteran's issues, especially those affected by PTSD.

She is survived by her two sons, David, of Melbourne, FL, and Patrick of Bordentown, NJ. Other survivors are her siblings Edith Nowakowski (Henry) of Anaheim, CA, Sally Buteux (Ray) of Suffern, NY, Trilby Salmon (Tom) of Ledgewood, NJ, Karen King (Bob) of Palm Bay, FL and James Bloom of Melbourne Beach, FL, and a very large extended family.

A memorial service will be held at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church on Saturday, February 8th, 2014, at 1PM.

The world was a brighter and more interesting place with her presence. She will be missed.
