I miss you, man. We had some good times on the Lincoln, and you were always so chill. We laughed together, and we fought together. We had our good times and our bad, but I'll always be glad I met and knew you, even if only for the time I did. May you find peace, and may your family find peace as well.

From the first day that I brought Matthew home from the hospital to the last day that I spent time with him, we held a bond together like no other. There is nothing more special than a mother and son's relationship. There was never a time that went by that I missed telling him how much I loved him. He was the light of my life. Nobody can ever take away from me the 28 years of precious memories that I hold so close to my heart. My heart aches so badly not knowing as a mother that her own son was suffering all alone on the inside but appeared so happy with that wonderful smile on the outside. You brought so much joy to all of our lives. I lost a piece of my heart that day that will take a very long time to mend. One day we will be together again but only God knows when that will be. I miss you so much! I know you are in such good hands and are no longer suffering on the inside. I just hope one day I can find my inner peace knowing that you are alright. Matthew, I love you as big as the world! Mom xoxoxo

I met Matthew during one of my trips to visit my sister while the Lincoln was in Everett, WA. He was smart, polite and I specially remember his sweet smile. Though I didn't know Matthew very well personally, I have heard countless stories about him, what a great human being he was, and what a great friend he was. My heart and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. Heaven gained another angel. Sleep peacefully, Matthew.

My friend, I cannot describe the pain your departure has left, a void that can never be filled. I remember you with your quiet smile and your laugh. Are many adventures on the ship. Me, the only girl stuck with all the boys, not knowing that you would become one of my brothers. You left us too soon, but I will remember you just as you were. All those memories, I will always carry. Rest in peace.
