Matthew (“Big Ben / Biggie”) Holmes passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the age of 29. He was born on February 25, 1987, in New Orleans to the late Steven P. Holmes and Jan H. Holmes.
He attended Crescent City Baptist School, where he graduated in 2006.
He is preceded in death by his father Steven P. Holmes; his grandfather Willard P. Holmes; his grandmothers, Betty A. Holmes and Evelyn P. Hare. He is also preceded in death by his friends, Buffy and Dieffenbacher.
He is survived by his beloved mother Jan H. Holmes; sister Jennifer K. Holmes-Dever (Randy); great-grandmother Walton P. Amos; his uncles, Mark B. Holmes (Myra), Doug E. Holmes and Brian F. Hare; and his cousins, Christopher Holmes, Jessica Hare and Joshua Hare. Big Ben is also survived by his loyal friends, Bashful and Mingeaux.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans on Sunday, November 27, 2016, at 6:00 p.m. A Memorial Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 4:00 p.m. until service time. Inurnment will be private.
