Mattie Ayres, age 95 of Olathe, KS and formerly of Vernon, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2011, in Olathe.

Mrs. Ayres was born Aug. 23, 1915, in Lamar Co. to the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Hollis. She was a cosmotologist and owned several salons during her successful career.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:00 in the funeral home chapel with John Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow at Furnace Hill. Visitation will be Saturday 1-2 prior to the service.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and David McAfee, of Overland Park, KS; daughter-in-law, Jean Ayres, of Golden, CO; sister, Vista Forrester of Birmingham; brother and sister-in-law, Rev. M.H. and Dot Hollis; six grandchildren, Rick, Leslie, Jason, Angela, Jon, and Jeffrey; eight great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred Ayres; son, John Hollis Ayres; her parents; and five brothers and sisters.
