Mattie Lee Davis was born in Ozan, Arkansas on January 5, 1931 to her loving paents Grant and Constance Allen and she followed God's angel home on October 31, 2013. She was the 5th oldest child of ten.

Mattie grew up in Blevins, Jacob Jones and Hope, Arkansas. She attended Blevins Training School and was a member of the graduating class of 1948 at Henry Clay Yerger High School in Hope. In 1948 she married Dorsie Ray Davis and they relocated to San Diego, California in 1950 where they raised three children.

Mattie was a woman of many talents. She worked as a housekeeper in her early adulthood. She later worked in the construction industry with her husband, at the Broadway Department Store in Grossmont Center, Kindred Hospital in Normal Heights and then for the Davis Family YMCA in La Mesa. She also worked as an elder caregiver and companion in her later years. As you all know she was always "caring for" and "doing for" others.

She loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, decorating her house for the holiday, sewing and making furniture. Mattie was on the Mother's Board of the New Assurance Baptist Church and enjoyed attending the Sunday morning services, picnics, breakfasts and Anniversary dinners for Pastor Laster and his wife Linda.

Mattie leaves behind to cherish memories her daughter Etta McNeil and children Shannon, Patryce and Marqus; son Clarence Davis Sr., his longtime partner Karen Price and children Myesha, Katrina, Clarence Jr., Sekea, Cory and Ca'Ron; son Leroy Davis, his wife Gayline and children Amber, Krist'n and Torino; two sisters Berthenia Robinson of Los Angeles, CA, Mary White and husband John of Hope, Arkansas; seventeen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; sisters-in-law Helen Bowie, Patsy Moore; and friends Rosie Wilburn and Laquita Robbins. Her father; mother; three brothers Grant, George and Tom Allen; and four sisters, Verna Simms, Valerie McFadden, Louise Green and Martha Ross preceded her in death.

At Mattie's Celebration of Life there was special recognition of proud family members by generation as follows:

Children: Pink Ribbons
Grandchildren: Purple Ribbons
Great-Grandchildren: White Ribbons
Great-Great-Grandchildren: Blue Ribbons
Sisters: Yellow Ribbons
