Maudie Custer, 91, of Coldwater, passed away Friday, January 4, 2013 at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility. She was born November 30, 1921 in Knott County, Kentucky to Liberty and Artelia (Shepard) Bradley. She married Samuel Custer July 30, 1939 in LaGrange, Indiana. He preceded her in death in 2001.
Maudie worked at many places in the area, Midwest Foundry, where she was the first woman on the Core Line, Southwinds and Randall's in Tekonsha. She also lived in Alaska and she was a caregiver for an Alzheimer patient. She loved to grow flowers and can.
She is survived by her children; Kenneth (Charlotte) Custer of Georgia, Janice (Thomas) Childers of Coldwater, Larry (Lynn) Custer of the Phillipines, Gary (Boina) Custer of Alaska, Randy (Dorothy) Custer of Alaska, many grand and great grandchildren, 2 sisters-in-law; Audrey Bradley of Concord and Eva Bradley of Albion.
Maudie was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel, 3 sisters, 4 brothers, a daughter-in-law and a grandson.
Visitation will be Friday, January 11, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Putnam Funeral Home in Coldwater. Services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Putnam Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Wilson, officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility.
