MARINOFF, Maureen Janet
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Maureen on Friday, May 23rd, 2014 at the age of 72. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Stephanie Bowes (Chris) and James Walker (Danielle), by her sisters Judith Block (Chester) and Constance Marinoff (Murray Moffat). She will be remembered with great fondness of happy times by her three grandsons that meant the world to her; Jesse and Mitchel Bowes and Jackson Walker. She will also be lovingly remembered by her many other relatives and her close friends. Grandie or Moe will be best remembered for her love of being with her grandsons to read with them, play army or go on an adventure. She always made time for gardening (in all of our gardens!), travel, decorating, reading books and the occasional trip to Rama for a concert and some fun. She was always one to share with others and to bring us all together for happy times. Maureen was a dedicated and diverse employee of Enbridge/Consumers Gas for 25 years. Many thanks to the staff a Lakeridge Health Oshawa - Oncology Department and the wonderful nursing staff on the 6th floor. Visitation will be held at the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King St. W. (905-721-1234) on Saturday, May 31st from 10:00 a.m. until time of the Memorial Service in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Maureen is a spirit that will forever remain in the thoughts and hearts of those she touched. A truly indomitable spirit that exemplified courage, faith and love that would not allow her to ever wander from being with her family.
A warrior who never relented and embraced life in a manner that many take for granted. Dylan Thomas's 'Do not go gentle into that good night' was an anthem for Maureen, as she quietly raged and raged against a foe that is relentless in its own purpose. Rest easy now our cherished mother, aunt, sister and friend. It is with memories that you shall always be in our hearts, and you will be certainly busy in the garden up there. I hear its pretty big.
With much love,

Maureen was the most vivacious and inspiring person we ever had the privilege of knowing. Her spirit was indomitable and she fought bravely against overwhelming odds. We loved her well and will miss her.

I met Maureen over 33 years ago at Consumers Gas in Whitby and we'd been friends ever since. I too will remember her warm and fun nature as well as the overwhelming strength she showed in her 15 year battle with cancer. Even through this the warmth and fun were always there. What a great picture of Maureen!---it shows the beauty she was flashing those pearly-whites.
