Hi Max, your marker and vase are up. I came to talk to you whenever I return to US and say goodbye when I leave. You were in my dream with a strong (mascular) body and your usual smile walking towards me. I know you are sending me message to tell me that you are happy and healthy in the Heaven. I wear your jacket and carry your backpak with me on my business trips so you are always with me physically and mentally.

Max, it's been 4 months since I've seen you but I think about you every day with so much love and vivid memory. Sometimes I forget that you are no longer here to hug and hold, because I carry you with me. I think about you when I get overwhelmed and begin to consider giving up, because you pushed through it all. You lived so thoroughly and so genuinely, and because of that you are one of my biggest inspirations. I wish I could have had more time to learn from you, but I have have already grown so much since we met. I can't tell you how amazing it felt to hear people's accounts of how much the bros and Mel and I meant to you. Nothing could have made me happier. I love you so much, Max, and when I miss you I read the message you sent to me the day I left for New York. You give me strength.

My dear son Max,

It is your birthday today. I believe you will have a birthday party in the heaven with relatives and new friends. Aunt Ping told me she felt you visiting her yesterday. She smelled the fragarance of roses while she does not have roses in or around her house, then your image came out in her mind with peace and joy. You are such an agel! I still feel you are with me every day. I know you never leave me and I love you forever. -dad

Hey Max,

I didn't get a chance to see you one last time during winter break because Patrick was hogging you all to himself. But, that's ok. Family has always been the priority in the Horng clan. I always have and always will deeply respect that. I would want nothing more. I just wish I didn't have to find out about your departure through Facebook. And man, do I hate Facebook. No face-to-face contact, no smile, nothing. Sorry, I'm going off topic. So I'm sitting here in my apartment, reminiscing about our past together. I told my mom about your passing, and she still recalls the time she took you, me, and some other people that I don't remember to the Newark movie theater. At that time, my sister was still in my mother's womb. Crazy, huh? Anyway, in the end, I guess what I really want to say is that I'll miss you. My life will not be the same without you. I'm glad we have met. Thank you for everything.

January 19, 2011

Terence, On Max's last day with you and your family, I am sure he heard Jesus voice say, " Come enter the Kingdom". Max is out of pain now, resting well and awaiting for all his other loved ones to join him someday. Stay Blessed Terence and your family and know that Max is in great hands:) Carlos Dunlap for NVIDIA in Santa Clara, Ca

Dear Max,

I remember your visit to New York City and when we went for steak at Peter Luger's in Brooklyn. You were so full of joy and smiles, even in August when you visited Singapore. I will always remember the time when we watched the World Cup together (even though you only managed to wake up for the final minutes of the final match) and spending time in Singapore.

May you rest in peace and be happy on the other side.

Ill definitely miss all the good times we've had together but i am sure you are at a better place now. Dear Max :

I hope you still remember me. I've known your father for over 30 years and as a father who also lost his second son, I probably can share more of your father's grief. I remember every time he talks about you and your brother-Patrick, his eyes glow as if you were the whole world to him. I am gld that your family visited my home in Taipei. I was deeply impressed by how delightful, cultured and polite you are. Your family also have the coherence and love, then I understood that you have not only good genes and also brought up well by your parents.

I admire your courage and as I have the plesure of meeting you, I always describe you as a boy of small body (but I found out that you have grown to be a nice-looking young man from your recent photo),but with a big heart and a huge brain.

I cherish the time that we met and you will be remembered dearly by all the people who know your family. I hope you rest peaceful and comfortably now, and I think you will bring a lot of laugh and happiness to heaven. You are not leaving us, you are just a pioneer to make heaven a better place for us, until we meet again.

Qing Yuan Ong

Dear Max,

You're a wonderful kid and I miss my weekly visits over these past few years to your home to teach you and Patrick, and the warmth and care that your family has shown me. You've been more than a student to me, and both you and Patrick are like younger siblings to me, even though both of you will gang up on me sometimes and drive me nuts. I'm so proud of you for continuing to learn and pursue knowledge even when you're not feeling well, and your courage in life. Rest in peace and I know you'll watch over Patrick and your family, given how much you love and cherish them.

Missing you lots,
Qing Yuan

Dear Max,

I've known you from a baby and we've had so many memories together. From your frequent visits to Singapore, staying at my place, bringing you to places and hearing you complain about the heat to our own visits to Fremont. Your latest visit to Singapore in August 2010 lives fondly in my memory, bringing you for chilli crab and your discovery of pepper crab, watching BBC Apprentice and realizing that it was much better than the American version, prawn fishing which you thought was awesome and finally your love for our mini daschund wobby whom you played fetch with constantly.

I shall miss you dearly and forever remember your smile, spirit and the joy you brought to your friends and family.

Your dearest Cousin,
