Obituary

Lake Charles- Maxine Hassan Leckband, 89, passed away November 12, 2012 in a local care facility. She was a WWII veteran of the US Navy and served as a Pharmacist Mate Second Class. She was a member of the Eastern Star, VFW Post 1736, American Veterans Post 7, life member of DAV and the Ladies Auxiliary. She graduated from Trout Good Pine High School in 1940 where she was a star basketball player. She retired as a Counselor from LaGrange Middle School. She received her BS from Northwestern University and her Masters from McNeese University. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a resident of Lake Charles since 1966. She is survived by...

She is survived by her grandson, Winston "Tyler" Leckband and wife, Katrina of Moss Bluff; great grandchildren, Laiken, Cameron, and Kaitlyn Leckband of Moss Bluff; sister, Ruth Gray of Trout, LA; sister-in-law, Ernistine Hassan of Melrose, LA and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Carl Leckband Sr. and loving son, Carl "Skipper" Leckband Jr.; parents, George and Cordelia Barnes Hassan; brothers, Hammond Hassan, Iba Hassan and Dempsey Hassan.
Her funeral will be 11am, Friday, November 16, 2012 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation will begin Thursday 5pm-9pm and resume Friday 8am until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Prien Memorial Park. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
