May M. Slagel-Blake, 83 of Warren, passed away at 3:36 pm on Monday, December 26, 2016 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice in Fort Wayne. May owned and operated May's Beauty Salon for over 30 years. She worked at Heritage Pointe for 14 years. She was an instructor at Huntington Beauty College for 3 years. May was a member of College Park United Brethren Church. She was a people person who never met a stranger. May loved her two poodles and enjoyed embroidery and gardening. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and especially going to her great grandkids events.
May was born on February 28, 1933 in Huntington, the daughter of George A. and Adah Elizabeth (Davenriner) Collins.
She was united in marriage to Paul D. Slagel on March 31, 1961 in Huntington. Her husband preceded her in death in 1997. She later married Dr. Floyd Blake on February 15, 2014 in Warren, her husband survives.
Additional survivors include: a daughter: Linda (Harold) Plasterer of Warren; two stepsons: Chuck (Vicki) Blake of West Lafayette; Harold (Jan) Blake of Brownsburg, IN; two stepdaughters: Lori (Jeff) Carpenter of Roscoe, IL; Lisa (Curt) Holmes of Union, MI; three grandchildren: Machelle (John) Suchcicki of Warren; Holly Plasterer of Warren; Pam (Lance) Gray of Wabash; eight-Step grandchildren and seven-Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death a great grandson: Braden Gray.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Applegate Chapel at Heritage Pointe, 801 Huntington Ave., Warren, Indiana.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 12:00 pm following visitation at the Applegate Chapel with Chaplain Dick Case officiating.
Interment will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Huntington County.
Memorial donations can be made out to Visiting Nurse and Hospice or to Little Panther Preschool both in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.

We enjoyed May's friendship. She was a very special person. She always had time to stop by the Cove and visit with her many friends. We will miss her and her smiles. Our prayers and thoughts go out to all of her family. She will be truely missed.

We were so sorry to hear of May's passing didn't know she had been ill. We were friends o Facebook but haven't heard from her in awhile. We have know May for many years Paul worked with Bob at Majestic that is when we meet them. "Our prayers are with you. May God Bless.
