Melody Larkin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 8, 2017.

Melody Larkin, born in Brownsville, Texas, went into the loving arms of our Lord on April 14, 2017, at the age of 63, after a valiant and short battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles J. Child and Dolores Paredes Child, her child Lilith Colbert, her sister Marta Zamora and brothers, Enrique and Fernando Gomez. She is survived by her sister Norma McCombs (Paul McCombs) and brother Joe Gomez (Susan Gomez). She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces and other family members.

Her last days were spent in the caring hands of the Heartland Hospice personnel who made her laugh and kept her comfortable. The family appreciates their efforts and also the care of the independent caregivers who were with her till the end.

Melody had been in the care giving profession herself and had joined the staff at the State Hospital in 2015 where she made many new friends with one extra special friendship with Alfred Garcia, who made sure to make her life easier in so many ways as her cancer progressed. The Staff was so compassionate and giving when they learned of her cancer and stood by her even after she could not perform her duties. The family thanks you.

Melody loved butterflies, the Cowboy look, Rhythm & Blues music, especially Johnny Taylor, fishing, having a good time, sharing what she had, and was passionate about her work. No one could say she was lazy. She will be missed by all, especially her sweet friend "HB" Burrell and her two forever friends, Toni Brooks and Terri Bryant and her pets, with her favorite being kitty Baby Lily.

Memorial services will be held on May 20, 2017 at 11:30 am, at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, (210) 828-2811.

Melody, I am going to miss you! Talking with you on the phone, hearing you laugh with my remarks and senting you beautiful Christian pictures with messages on it. You were a beautiful person inside and out. It was a pleasure knowing you and I thank God that he brought us together so you could have a sister friend.

My sister friend..how I'm going to miss our talks. I was so blessed that you chose me to be your friend almost 50 yrs ago. What we have been through only we know about. But though my heart is heavy I know you are in a much better place. You suffer no more! My words to you always were that God has a plan..so until we meet again....Terri Bryant your sister

Although I didn't know your love one personally, but bless the family and love ones left behind. I have been there for two sudden losses to cancer within 3 months of each other. Melody is at peace with our Lord and not suffering. Be happy for her.
