Melonee Bell Williams, 90, left this life Friday, July 29, 2011. She was born August 19, 1920, to the late Townsend Bell and Christine Hardy Bell in Victoria (Mission Valley) County Texas. She was the oldest of three children. Melonee accepted and acknowledged God through his son Jesus Christ as her Savior in 1932. She was baptized in the Guadalupe River on Easter Sunday 1932 by Rev. West and joined Palestine Missionary Baptist Church. She served as an usher for many years and belonged to the Junior and Senior mission. Melonee Bell Williams, 90, left this life Friday, July 29, 2011. She was born August 19, 1920, to the late Townsend Bell and Christine Hardy Bell in Victoria (Mission Valley) County Texas. She was the oldest of three children. Melonee accepted and acknowledged God through his son Jesus Christ as her Savior in 1932. She was baptized in the Guadalupe River on Easter Sunday 1932 by Rev. Later she joined Faith Family Church and she attended regularly until her health failed.

Melonee attended Victoria Colored Elementary and F.W. Gross High School, finishing with honors. She was the F. W. Gross High School Queen of 1938.

Melonee was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Francis G Williams, Jr., and brothers, James C. Bell and John T. Bell. On August 20, 1941, she was joined in holy matrimony with Francis G. Williams, Jr. They were blessed with two children, Benson O. Williams and Christine F. Williams. Together they owned and operated a very successful business, Williams Washateria.

A devoted wife, mother, homemaker, grandmother and civic leader, Melonee belonged to a host of civic organizations that included the Eveready Homemakers Club, Carver Center Ladies Auxillary, The Victoria County Home Extension Council and the Hear Foundation. She was also the co-pioneer of the F. W. Gross High School Reunion Council, the pioneer of the Bell/Anderson Reunion Committee, was a 4-H Club leader, a girl scout leader and a pioneer of the Carver Center Debutante Ball Committee.

Melonee leaves to cherish her legacy two children, Benson O. Williams Sr., and wife, Lessie Williams, Christine F. (Williams) Cavalier and husband, Kenneth Cavalier; three grandchildren, Benson Williams Jr., Alecia D. Williams and Joshua P. Cavalier; nieces, Cheryl Renea Steward, Carolyn Ann Alexander, Deborah Dunston Ladet, Connie Bell Green, Jackie Bell, and Rita Bell; nephews, Alvin Hardy, Rev. Francis Ray Hardy, Elga Steward Jr., Reginald Bruce Steward, Rikki Steward, Jesse W. Dunston , James Bell, and a host of grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and many friends will cherish her memory.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 3, 2011, from 6 to 8 pm at Rosewood Funeral Chapels.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 4, 2011, at 1 pm at Faith Family Church with Rev. Francis Hardy officiating, and Rev. Jimmie Flakes presenting the eulogy. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Keith Williams, Jeff Williams, Jesse Dunston, Ron White, Arthur White, James Bell, Eddie Bryant and Charles Green.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Everready Homemakers Club.
