Funeral services for Mel Korthauer are scheduled for Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Francis Episcopal Church in Tyler , Texas Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at St Francis Episcopal Church. Mel passed away Saturday afternoon in Tyler. He was born on December 2, 1927 in Burton, Texas to Alvin A. and Selma Wilkening Korthauer. Mel served in the U. S. Army Air Corps, was in the Elks Club and was very active at St. Francis Espicopal Church where he was involved in the "Mens Group", Usher, Vestry and the "Out to Lunch Bunch". Mel passed away Saturday afternoon in Tyler.
He was born on December 2, 1927 in Burton, Texas to Alvin A. and Selma Wilkening Korthauer. Mel served in the U. S. Army Air Corps, was in the Elks Club and was very active at St. Francis Espicopal Church where he was involved in the "Mens Group", Usher, Vestry and the "Out to Lunch Bunch". Mel was a Counselor at the San Antonio Jr. College for many years before moving to Tyler to enjoy retirement and spend time with friends, family and especially Grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife Patricia Ray Korthauer.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law- Russell (Rusty)and Julie Korthauer – Tyler, TX. Four grandchildren, Alyssa, Ryan, Blake and Clay.
Two sisters – Shirley Prenzler of Burton, Texas and Margie Haar of Houston, Texas.

Pallbearers will be: Doyle Parker, Glenwood Prenzler, Bob Krahn and his four grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Francis Episcopal Church or the charities of your choice.
