Melvin Richard Stober a retired Senior Master Sergeant for the United States Air Force.71, of New Baden, Illinois, born February 3, 1043 in Des Moines, Iowa passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Illinois.
Melvin was a life time member of the VFW Post 3642, Illinois. Melvin was a loving father and grandfather.
Melvin was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Sandra Kay, nee Allen, Stober who he married on July 17, 1962 in passed away on August 28, 2011; and his parents, John William and Pearl Virginia, nee Field, Stober, Jr.
Surviving are his loving and devoted children, Michael Ray Stober; Sheila (Steven) Solarz; grandchildren, Sharon Solarz and Sheldon Solarz; siblings, John Stober and Virginia Mae Postma.

Visitation: friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, Illinois. A graveside service will be scheduled for a later date.
