Meredith (Mick) G. Lange, age 75, of Greendale, Wisconsin, passed away at his home on Friday, January 4, 2013. Mick was born on May 20, 1937 in Sparta, Wisconsin to Joseph and Viola (Myers) Lange. Beloved husband of Cheryl, father of Lance and Lisa Johnson (Jeffrey), stepfather to Kelly Filocha (John) and Jennifer McBain (Joe Bates), grandfather to Lorelei, Olivia, Leah, Gianna, Grace and Madeline, step-grandfather to Abby, Collin, and Jeremy, brother to Joel (J.D.) (Linda), Keith (Mary) and Craig (Elaine), son-in-law to Doris Klingman, brother-in-law to Bill Klingman (Gini) and Rick Klingman, special uncle to Lindsey Klingman, dear friend of Allan (Mary) Schell. Mick is also survived by many other dear relatives and friends. Mick was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Viola Lange. He grew up in Tomah, Wisconsin, which held a special place in his heart until his last days. Mick was a proud and decorated American who served his country in the U.S. Army, Army Security Agency (n/k/a National Security Agency) from 1955-1958 rising to Sergeant First Class (E-7), with distinguished service, including intelligence service in Korea as a traffic analyst interpreting communications from enemies along the Korean border providing fruitful tactical intelligence for localized operations. Mick later served in the Wisconsin Army National Guard from 1959-1961. Like his father before him who served the army as a Master Sergeant in intelligence in World War II, Mick, who held top secret crypto clearance, rarely discussed the details of his service in intelligence. Professionally, Mick served as Director of Industrial Relations for American Motors Corporation, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and later Chrysler Corporation in Kenosha. Mick was a student of history and will be remembered for his sharp mind and quick wit. In his later years he served in his greatest role of all as husband and father but especially as a loving and dear grandfather to his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed. Thank you to Aurora Hospice for the loving care the last few months. A special thank you to the doctors and staff of Wisconsin Bone & Joint. A private service will be held at Schramka-Borgwardt Funeral Home.
