Meriam Bode "Mimi" Galjour entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 5, 2014 at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie A. Galjour and her parents, Lester Bode and Rose Young. She is survived by her children; Lester Romero, Cherie G. Alaniz, Jeffrey Galjour, Robyn G. Henderson (Chris), Wayne Galjour and Michael Galjour, and her siblings; Thomas Young, Adele Adams, Mary Mizell, Bobbie Jacobson and Madeline Walker. Also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many close friends that were considered family.
Meriam was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Metairie, LA since 1958. She retired from South Central Bell after 30 years of service. She was an avid bowler and participated in many bowling leagues in the New Orleans area.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Dr. Metairie, LA on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 12:00 Noon. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and also on Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 11:00 AM until Mass time. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the American Cancer Society, 2605 River Rd., New Orleans, LA 70121 or online at https://donate.cancer.org/.
