Born on February 22, 1934, Merillia E. Ledano (Pennington), 77, was called to her heavenly home on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 after a three year battle with cancer. "Tout" as most called her, was known for her wit and love for people. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. She worked for 11 years as a cook for the Cameron Parish School system. She also worked in the Medical field for 25 years until her retirement.
She is survived by her sons, Billy R. Ledano of Lake Charles, LA, Anthony John Ledano of Sugartown, LA, Kenneth James Ledano of Austin, TX, Owens Ledano and wife, Lisa of Grand Lake, LA; daughters, Elma Mirinda Morales and husband, Ruben of Lake Charles, LA, Victoria Conner and husband, David of Cameron, LA, Mary Ledano and Cathy Chiles of Sulphur, LA; sister, Audrey Vaughan of Bell City; 12 grandchildren and 5 great, grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raleigh and Elma Richard Rutherford; her first husband and father of her children, John Ledano; her second husband, Gerald Pennington; 3 children, Robert J. Ledano, Theresa Ann Ledano Belanger; John Richard Ledano; 2 grandchildren, Bryan Morales, Michelle Willis; 2 great, grandchildren, Scarlet Willis and Little Scotty Willis.
Her funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Father Wayne LeBleu will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Thursday from 5-9 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with scripture service at 6:30 p.m. and rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday at 8 a.m. til start of service.
