It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, husband, brother, uncle and friend. Born in Port Aux Basques, NL he was a beloved husband of 31 years to Kate and loving father to Danika (Josh). Fondly remembered by his sisters Marie (Eric), Shirley (Rick), brother Shawn and brother-in-law Eg Walters. Predeceased by his parents Elise and Garfield Piercey, sister Roma Walters, mother-in-law Charlene Tilley and nephew Jonathan Bragg. He will be missed by his father-in-law Calvin Tilley, Kate's sisters and brothers, Jo-Anne Bragg (Mel), Calvin Tilley Jr., Jennifer Griffin (Donald), Alastair Tilley (Diane) and Peter Tilley. Merrill was a talented tradesman that started his trade as a young child in his father's welding shop. He took his love, passion and hard work to develop his own business – Danco Welding Inc. in 1990. Even though you were taken from us far too soon you enriched many of the lives you touched. Gone from us but never forgotten as you will always be in our thoughts and hearts. Visitation was held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Sunday, August 17th from 7 – 9 p.m. Memorial Service was held in the Chapel on Monday, August 18th at 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Durham Humane Society or the charity of your choice.
