Michael "Mike" Pertick Obituary

Michael J. Pertick, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2014.

Mike was born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 24, 1939 to parents Albert and Elizabeth Pertick. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a member of the York Street Church of God in Bushnell, Florida and also an affiliate member of the Bushnell, Florida VFW. Mike was quite an industrious entrepreneur that involved numerous business ventures. At one time he and his wife owned and operated the Brady Lake RV Park and was also the owner/operator of Sherwood Beverage stores in Euclid and Chesterland, Ohio as well as Nardi's Pizza Shop in Chesterland. He enjoyed camping, boating, travelling, talking with people in general and being with his family.

Mike is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jean (Leduc) and his son, Dan (Anne) Pertick. Surviving also are his grandchildren: Paul, Darcy and Isabella Kreiner-Hogya and his daughter-in-law Jan Kreiner-Hogya. He also leaves his sisters: Charlotte Kelleher and Diane (Ray) Listak and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son David Hogya and his brothers-in-laws: Jack Kelleher and Larry Cohen.

Family will receive friends at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, on Saturday, July 26, 2014 from 1:00 PM until the 3:00 PM memorial service officiated by Pastor John Schleup. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the National Veterans Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Mike's name to Akron General Hospice.

Mike's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all of the staff of Akron General Hospital and Hospice and Akron General Cancer Center for their kind and compassionate care given to Mike and our family.

I was stationed wtih Mike from March 1964 through December 1964 at Cheltenham, Maryland. We were both CT's of the Naval Security Group. We had great times together. He was a great fan of the Cleveland Browns" football team, especially Jim Brown. I am so sorry to hear about his passing. Kindly accept my deepest condolences.
