Michael Neil Hoyle was born in New Bern, NC on September 16, 1991. He moved with his mother, Freida, and brother, Stephen, to Cary when he was only one year old.
Michael attended Cary Elementary, Weatherstone, Cary Middle, Cary High, and Wake Tech, graduating from Wake Tech in 2010.
Michael enjoyed scouts, basketball, and soccer, and particularly enjoyed vacation at the beach with his brother and buddy Trey. Michael loved cars and owned several! His last job was carpentry work with Urban Pallets Design in Wilmington. He was an energetic, fun-loving, and beautiful person to his family and friends. On January 26, 2012 he lost his brother, Stephen, to homicide and never regained his spark for life. Michael became depressed, began to self-medicate, and fought the battle of addiction. Even though Michael chose to get help, he passed away at the Hope House Recovery Center on Valentine's Day as a result of his battle.
Michael will be deeply missed by his mother, Freida Knott MacDonald; step-father, Douglas William MacDonald; father, Stephen Neil Hoyle; step-mother Lisa; grandparents, Dr. Fred and Janet Knott; sister, Sarah Hoyle; step-sisters, Jessica MacDonald Griffiths (and husband, Euan), and Stephanie MacDonald Clement (and husband, Jon); and step-brothers, Cody Nell, and Justin DeBose (and wife Britany).
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 19, 2016 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Rd. Cary, NC 27511. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Enon Baptist Church 229 Enon Rd. Oxford, NC 27565. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to any addiction foundation.

Freida, I am just heart sick for you and your family. Please know I am lifting you up in prayer as you walk thru this difficult time. I remember cutting this sweet boys hair when y'all moved back to Raleigh. Such energy and cuteness. May your precious memories comfort you and yours.

I am so sorry for the loss of your other son. May God wrap his arms around you and give you some peace and comfort. I lost my son Brandon to cancer. My granddaughter Aaliyah also lost her daddy on Valentine's Day a couple of years ago to a drug overdose. Just know that all of us here in Grieving Mothers are always here for you. My heart goes out to you and your family.

Love from an addicts mom
Another has been taken too soon
A child of my friends
A young man with far to go
Born of love, cherished , gently guided
Succumbed to a societal cancer
It's malignancy too fierce
Leaving hearts with gaping holes
That can never be filled.

Freida and Family I am so sorry for the loss of both of your sons. I have never lost a child but I certainly have lost a lot friends to substance abuse and addiction and it is a powerful demon. Take comfort in knowing that your two sons are now together in heaven and their battle is over. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am sorry for your loss. The last time I saw Mike, he was on the phone, when he hung up, he told me he was talking to his mom. He went on to say that you are the most amazing mom and that he loved you beyond words. From one mom to another, I pray that you find peace and know that your sons are a part of you and will live on through you!

I don't know where to begin. Mike was such a good friend and was a brother to us Miller's. We are truly honored to have been in the presence of Mike for all the years we had. Mike's sense of laugher made us all laugh and cheer up. He was the type to put himself first or offer to pay for your food. Always very giving and man did he love his Acura TL's. Thanking God for our time and praying that he rests in eternity as he joins Stephen in Heaven. Love and miss you Mike!
