Michael Brouwer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 5, 2016.

Michael Lyle Brouwer, age 65, passed away suddenly while hiking with a good friend on Thursday, November 3, 2016. Mike is preceded in death by his mother Alice and mother-in-law Nita. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Linda and their children Robert (Laura Vorgias) Brouwer and Alissa (Marc Mora) Brouwer. Mike will also be missed by his brothers Rick (Marcia) Brouwer and Dan (Libby) Brouwer, his sisters Sherry (Chuck) Lamb and Laurie (Brett) Passon as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Many people knew Michael as "Mike London" the radio DJ who was almost fired in the 70's for bringing progressive rock to West Michigan. He was passionate about music, cycling, cars and the outdoors. However, Mike's greatest passion was his family. Please join the family for a memorial gathering on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Reyers North Valley Chapel from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mike's family to assist in offsetting the final expenses. In radio fashion the family would like to say "We Love you, Good Night and Good Luck!"

To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Linda Weidenfeller

Linda and Family, I'm so sorry for your loss! I just heard through a mutual friend of Mary and Kevin Tyrell and knew the guys had cycled together in years past. I texted Libby to confirm. I'm praying for your family and will continue to do so in the following days and months as I know this is a journey.
Hugs...

Linda, Robert, and Alissa; We are so very sorry to hear of your loss. So many, many memories of fun at your houses and lots of laughter during the Minicomp days and bike rides. Mike always provided adventures (working the 24 hour ride, working Robert's soccer game as a fill in, and pulling pranks on our coworkers) and lots of fun memories. Love to you all, Nancy and Guy Holm

Dan, Sherry & Chuck - I just sent a message but forgot to sign it. Rosemary Posekany - you would have known me as "Rose Petersen" from the Plainfield McDonald's.

Dan, Sherry and Chuck - very sorry to hear of Mike's passing. Although I never met him, I knew Dan & Chuck when I worked at the Plainfield McDonald's back in 1973. You would have known me as "Rose Petersen" & I went on to be the maintenance person at the Jenison McDonald's when it opened. Again, my condolences.

Linda, Bob and Alissa:
I am so very sorry for your loss.
Mike was a great guy, marvelous biker and fabulous story-teller. Every one of his stories had a good laugh in there somewhere, punctuated by the explosion of his inimitable belly-laugh. I knew him for 25 years, through much time together on Team V, both during rides and in the beers-after time. I have wonderful memories of our time together in France, riding up and down mountain passes and watching the Tour de France. Though his sudden death was a shock to all, I am glad that in his final moments, he was walking with his very good friend, Kevin.
I will miss him, as I know will every member of Team V.

We were so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. Though we haven't talked in a while, we have great memories when the boys ran together at FHC. Loving thoughts and prayers are with you.
