Michael Dean Gatewood, 23, of Mooresville, NC, died Sunday, June 3, 2012 in Statesville, NC. He was born March 12, 1989, in Goldsboro NC, the son of David Gatewood and the late Pamela Gatewood. Michael lived all of his life in North Carolina and California. He earned his CNA license from Big Sandy Community and Technical College in Prestonsburg, KY. Michael lived all of his life in North Carolina and California. He earned his CNA license from Big Sandy Community and Technical College in Prestonsburg, KY. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Herman and Donna Gatewood, and grandfather, Raeford Kimrey. He is survived by his father and stepmother, David and Ann Gatewood of Mooresville, NC; brothers, Timothy Gatewood of Charlotte, NC and Jamison Gatewood of Lake Wylie, SC; stepsister, Sarah Willis of Mooresville, NC; grandmother, Jerline Montgomery of Lake Wylie, SC; aunt, Michelle Montgomery of Lake Wylie, SC; uncles Gary (Barbara) Gatewood of Mundelein, IL, Rick Gatewood of Lancaster, SC, and Scott Gatewood of Kingston, RI; and several cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 pm on Friday, June 8, 2012 at Forest Lawn West, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte NC, 28208, with burial immediately following. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be sent to Camp Carefree, 275 Carefree Lane, Stokesdale, NC 27357.
