Mickey graduated from Peoria High School, Northwestern University Class of 1947 and Stanford University Law School Class of 1950 and was a member of the Northwestern and Stanford Alumni Associations, California Bar Association, Peoria County Bar Association, Illinois Bar Association and American Bar Association. He was a practicing attorney in Peoria for over 50 years. He provided pro bono legal services to many clients who could not afford them.

Mickey honorably served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Navigator during World War II in the China-Burma-India Theatre from 1943-1946. Following his military service, he attended Stanford University Law School and upon graduation, practiced law in California before returning to Peoria to run his family’s steel business, W.
