Lawrence, Michael Cannon, 69, of Clearwater, Florida passed away on Tuesday, November 12th.
He was born to the late Harold and Margaret Lawrence in Hartford, Connecticut. Michael graduated from the Loomis School in 1961, received a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University in 1965 and went on to receive an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1971.
After serving as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Reserve, Michael and his wife, Nancy, moved to Clearwater, Florida in 1971. Founded by Nancy's parents in 1954, Michael and Nancy were longtime owners of the Ace Liquor stores in Clearwater, Florida.
Michael enjoyed cold beer, Bucs games, Yale athletics, and attending many Clearwater Central Catholic sporting events. When he wasn't following sports, Michael was cheering on his daughter at horse shows or playing board games with granddaughter Caroline Grace Katko.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Nancy Golden Lawrence; daughter Jennifer Lawrence Katko; son-in-law Andrew William Katko; granddaughter Caroline Grace Katko; sister June Lawrence Rickard (David); and nephews and nieces.
A celebration of life will be held from 11:30am-3:00pm on Saturday, November 23rd at Capogna's Dugout, 1653 Gulf-to-Bay Blvd., Clearwater, FL 33756.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Suncoast Hospice, Clearwater, FL or the Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa, FL.
