Michael Don (Boots) Lazaroff, beloved son of Olga Lazaroff and the late Don A Lazaroff, proud father of Nick Lazaroff and Amanda Lazaroff, husband to the love of his life, Shelly Lazaroff and brother to Patricia Gilchrist (John) and Virginia Zwick (Ron) went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday January 16, 2014. Michael is also survived by his niece Angela Zwick, his nephew Theodore Zwick, and Shelly's daughter (his bonus daughter) Brittany Boyk. In addition, he is survived by the mother of his children, Cindy Koch, his brother in baptism, Phil Lazaroff, his special friend, Norm Purucker along with numerous relatives and friends. Protect and Serve was the creed Michael followed throughout the course of his life. He always knew he wanted to be a police officer and he did just that. He served with numerous area agencies, ultimately retiring from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office as Sargent. Michael was also in the restaurant business, co-owning Jaxon Pizza Factory and Lazaroff's Restaurant. Michael also worked at Burden's Funeral Home, Ladwig's Culligan Water Conditioning, Town and Country Harley Davidson and was most recently employed at Capital Harley Davidson in Dimondale, Mi. Michael was a member of The Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #70 , Past Master of the Jackson Masonic Lodge #17, was a member of The Jackson Shrine Club 10-45, and The Grotto Club. Michael led a very full life. He loved his Harley and took many road trips with his biker friends. He loved to sing and was not a stranger to singing a Johnny Cash song here and there. He was becoming proficient in performing the Maori Haka. Michael was known for telling jokes that were not necessarily funny, but we all laughed anyway. Behind his gruff exterior he was a very kind and caring man. Visitation will be at Burden's Funeral Home , Monday January 20, 2014 between 2-4PM and 6-8PM. The Panahida will be at 7PM. Funeral services will be held at St John's Catholic Church Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 11AM, conducted by Father Dusan Koprivica of St Demetrius Orthodox Church. In lieu of flowers , Mike's family requests donations be made to St.Demetrius Orthodox Church or Thin Blue Line (information will be available at the church).
