Mickey O. "Mike" McGaughey 1930 - 2014 Mike was called to Heaven by his Lord and Savior, March 20, 2014. Passing very peacefully with his wife at his side.He was born to Willie and Berta McGaughey in West Tallassee, Alabama.He was predeceased by his parents and six sisters.He is survived by his wife, Janice, four children, daughters, Suzanne Johnston (Bob) of Oak Ridge, TN., Phyllis Powell of Vancouver, WA., sons, Michael McGaughey (Mirna) of San Jose, CA., Richard McGaughey (Amber) of Henderson, NV., Ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and brother Jack McGaughey of Mendota, CA. Mike was called to Heaven by his Lord and Savior, March 20, 2014. Passing very peacefully with his wife at his side.He was born to Willie and Berta McGaughey in West Tallassee, Alabama.He was predeceased by his parents and six sisters.He is survived by his wife, Janice, four children, daughters, Suzanne Johnston (Bob) of Oak Ridge, TN., Phyllis Powell of Vancouver, WA., sons, Michael McGaughey (Mirna) of San Jose, CA., Richard McGaughey (Amber) of Henderson, NV., Ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and brother Jack McGaughey of Mendota, CA. Also four step children and spouses and many step grand and great grandchildren.His military career, second to his Lord, family and friends were the joy and pleasure of his life. He retired from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer Hospital Corpsman, serving in Korea and Vietnam awarded many honors and medals during those years including the Purple Heart. He loved serving his country and was honored for setting up a hospital in Korea to train hospital corpsman there. He was a quiet, gentle man that always thought others needed help much more than he did.A memorial service will be held at Shasta Baptist Church 6600 Westside Rd., Redding, CA., April 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside service with full military honors will be at 2:00 p.m. at McDonald's Redding Cemetery 1275 Continental St., Redding, CA.In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzhheimers Association at 1-650-962-8111.
