Rodina, Mildred

It is with deep love that we announce the passing of Mildred Clara Rodina (Mosburger) on Saturday evening, October 8, 2011. But it is with even more joy that we understand that the next journey has begun for you. In death, as in life – you made your own decisions, leaving us peacefully and content knowing that all is well.

Mildred was born in Kitchener Ontario, August 8, 1929, living her entire life there. She spent her years there living and loving her husband John – the boy next door, who went ahead of her to prepare in January 2010 – their marriage of nearly 60 years an amazing triumph.

Mildred leaves behind her daughter Colleen and husband John Andruszkiewicz. She is also survived by grandsons Jody (his wife Jeanette) and Justin – and she continues to watch over her only great-grandson Jasper.

Also remaining are her two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Kipfer and Phyllis Rodina – family by law but friends by choice.
Mildred will be sadly missed by her nieces Linda, Joanne, Dianne, Peggy and nephews, Neil and Paul, in addition to several great-nieces and nephews.
Her dear friend of many decades, Rose Hannon, will be in her heart forever.

Gone before her were her parents, Herbert and Emma Mosburger, her brother Neil and his wife Nancy, and brothers-in-law Tony, Joe and Harold.

Mildred, an avid sportswoman, spent years playing both basketball and baseball. She retired from J.M. Schneider after a long and successful career. An active member of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre, she was also a lifetime member of the CWL, the Women of the Moose and the Waterloo Knights Retirees Club.

Her personal and professional accomplishments were many but none mattered more than that of a successful wife, mother and grandmother.
We are the sum of our choices. Though not always in agreement – she taught us how to make choices and allowed us to do so. And for that gift we will always be grateful.

A memorial mass to celebrate Mildred's life will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Louis RC Church, 53 Allen St. E. Waterloo with laughter, reminiscence and refreshments to follow in the hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Louis Church, at Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home or www.ratzbechtelfuneralhome.com.
