Obituary

Miles T. Nichols, 83, Lenexa, KS passed away January 25, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 21, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd. Miles was born October 26, 1931 at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, MO. He attended Hale Cook Grade school and was a Cub Scout and Eagle Scout in Troop 50, and a Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He graduated from Shawnee Missouri Rural High School (now North). He began his studies at KU in 1948 where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity and was Rush Chairman in 1951. Miles was born October 26, 1931 at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, MO. He attended Hale Cook Grade school and was a Cub Scout and Eagle Scout in Troop 50, and a Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He graduated from Shawnee Missouri Rural High School (now North). He began his studies at KU in 1948 where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity and was Rush Chairman in 1951. Miles graduated from KU, January 17th, 1953, and was drafted into the Army where he served two years. He retired in 1995 after 40 years in the general insurance business.
Miles became a board member of the Kansas City, Missouri Junior Chamber of Commerce and was chairman of the Miss Kansas City Pageant. He was also president of the Delta Tau Delta Alumni Association, KC Golf Association, KC Breakfast Club, and the Kansas Golf Association where he spent 20 plus years as a starter for the Kansas Golf Association events.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years Sandra Myer Nichols. Miles is survived by his two sons Kevin and Gregory Nichols, and by his former wife Sue Nichols.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to the Kansas Golf Foundation, 1201 Wakarusa Dr., Ste. B5, Lawrence, KS 66049 or Boy Scouts of America, 10210 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO 64131.
