ARLINGTON, TEXAS -- Milton Howard Baugh died peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010, after a brief illness.
Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, at First Presbyterian Church of Arlington. Private burial: Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in M.H. Baugh's name to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn St., Dallas, Texas 75219.
Howard was born in Shreveport, La., on Dec. 4, 1920. Joining the Marines after college, he flew jet fighters for one mission at the end of World War II. Participating in the Korean War, he was shot down, captured and spent time in a Chinese prison camp. He stayed in the Marines after the war, serving his country in various capacities and becoming a multi-decorated Marine. As a helicopter pilot for the White House during the Eisenhower and Kennedy administrations, he accompanied President Eisenhower on his visits to South America and Japan.
After retiring from the Marines in 1960, he worked for Bell Helicopter as a supervisor of the writers of the manuals for maintaining the helicopters, retiring in 1983. He was a Shriner and a member of the Noon Optimist Club and the Silver Eagles. He was a volunteer for Arlington Charities and the United Methodist Services.
Survivors: Wife, Polly; sons, H.H. Baugh and his wife, Sharon, and Gary Baugh and his wife, Scottie; daughter, Diane Hayes and her husband, Pat; brother, Dr. Benjamin C. Baugh;two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The world has lost a true hero with the passing of Howard Baugh. He set a fine example for all the young men and women with whom he came in contact throughout his distinguished career. Howard will be truly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Baugh family during this difficult. May you find great comfort and peace through the love of your family and friends.
