Milton E. Knight Sr. was born in Detroit on July 29, 1927 to Clara (Idalski) and Thomas Knight. Milton passed away on June 30, 2013. Milton was the beloved husband of Mary (Taddeo). Milton graduated from Farmington High School in 1945 where he was class president and captain of the football team. A star running back, Farmington was undefeated in 1944 in their 6 game schedule. Milt was also a track & field star who held a record for the 100 yard dash at 10.0 seconds flat. During his years at Farmington his classmates nicknamed him "The Hero." Milton E. Knight Sr. was born in Detroit on July 29, 1927 to Clara (Idalski) and Thomas Knight. Milton passed away on June 30, 2013. Milton was the beloved husband of Mary (Taddeo). Milton graduated from Farmington High School in 1945 where he was class president and captain of the football team. A star running back, Farmington was undefeated in 1944 in their 6 game schedule. Milt was also a track & field star who held a record for the 100 yard dash at 10.0 seconds flat. During his years at Farmington his classmates nicknamed him "The Hero." Milt was awarded a football scholarship to Michigan State University, but shortly thereafter was drafted into the Occupation Army and sent to Germany in 1946. Upon his return from military service, Milton married Mary, his high school sweetheart, on May 10, 1947. They recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. In 1948, along with his father, Thomas, Milt proved to be a pioneer in the automotive aftermarket parts business and a leader nationally in sales. Knight's Auto Supply grew into a three-store enterprise with his three sons and now three of his grandsons. Milton and Mary have seven children, Milt Jr. (Debbie), Joanie Lampert, Laura (Milan Popovich), Victor (Annette), Rock (Doris), Mary Elizabeth (Brian Kelm), and Angela Mecca. They have fifteen grandchildren, Greg, Vincent, Michael, Michelle, Candace, Katy, Bunny, Leann, Matthew, Dominic, Renee, Allison, Thomas, Kristina, Isabella, and seven great-grand children. In addition to his loving family, Milton was a great friend to many and had a passion for life, laughter, and the game of golf. Milt was also a lifelong member of Twin Beach Country Club and a member of the Riverbend Country Club in Jupiter, Florida, as well as a Son of the American Revolution SAR. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Union Lake Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 1233 Union Lake Rd., White Lake. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. (In State 9:00 a.m.) at the Shrine Chapel of Our Lady of Orchard Lake, 3535 Indian Trail, Orchard Lake.
