Milton M. "Scoop" McCaulley, was born August 10, 1914 and raised on the McCaulley homestead, now known as River Meadows County Park.

Scoop worked as a high rigger & hook tender for many logging outfits, including Lyman Timber, Laughlin Logging, Preston Logging, Jones & Anderson Timber, McMahan Logging, and Galbraith Brothers.

Answering the call during WWII, Scoop entered the Army Air Corp; he played football for the Army; and after 4 months, the logging industry petitioned to have him discharged, as his skills as a high rigger were needed for the war effort. He was honorably discharged with his discharge papers signed personally by President Roosevelt.

After reitring from the woods, Scoop worked at the Jim Creek Naval Station keeping all the red lights shining on the mountain tops! After retiring again, he worked for the U.S. Forest Service in road maintenance. In his earlier years, he also packed supplies by horse to U.S. Forest Service personnel fighting fires.

Preceded in death by his wife, Jessie, Scoop is survived by his children: Merle (Sandi) McCaulley; Cori (Jess) Fasey; Jerry (Robin) McCaulley; Derek (BJ) Kempf; Allen Adams, Colleen Adams; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
