To Gay and Michael my sincere condolences on the loss of your
Mother. She was my mother-in law at one time and she treated
me like a son instead of a son-in law. She was gracious, always cheerful and considerate to everyone. A great lady and a wonderful wife and mother. To live a full life for 98 years was
amazing. She will be missed. RIP, Mom.

May the Funderburg Fergus Family of North Carolina express offer the deepest sympathies for the loss of Muriel Katheleen Calhoun.
We have lost a patriot who defended our way of life and a prominent citizen who brought honor to our region.
She was a dutiful military wife of her late husband, Full Bird Cournal Alford Earl Calhoun, US Army. The happy couple lived at Wrightsville Beach, where their three children were raised.
Mrs. Calhoun's life was filled with joy and love of her family, numerous friends and lifelong service to her community.
She fully supported and promoted the first years of surfing in North Carolina, the formation of early surfing clubs and durable and organized amateur surfing competitions. She was a resourceful advocate of surfing and an environmental resources.
Her three children were some of the first surfers in North Carolina and instrumental in shaping the local surfing community into what it is today.
She was supremely proud of her children and their outstanding achievements in the pursuit of spiritual, academic, physical and social excellence.
I have had the good fortune and honor to know her on land and sea. She protected those in whose love we live and those that are dear to us.
The patriarch of the Calhoun Family has left her earthly life to be with God.
We are profoundly saddened to hear of her passing.
