Muriel Lucille Christopher was born on December 27, 1924. She died peacefully in her sleep on February 28, 2015. Muriel is preceded in death by her father John L. Summitt Sr., her mother Mary Gladys Summitt, her brother John L. Summitt Jr., and her husband of 68 years Charles L. Christopher. Muriel is survived by her nephew, Chris Summitt and his family of Denton. Muriel is also survived by her sister-in-law Martha L. Flowers of Collinsville.
Muriel remained physically healthy, but she lost herself to dementia over the last several years. Despite this she remained a cheerful and sweet person. She continued to delight in seeing her grandnieces and grandnephews.
Muriel worked professionally for Weyerhauser as a secretary. She retired from Weyerhauser in 1986. She travelled extensively with her husband. She was a supporter of the Audubon Society and chronicled more than 600 species of birds. She took pride in visiting all 50 states and all 254 counties in Texas. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 10am at Sparkman Hillcrest in Dallas. A short graveside service will immediately follow in Collinsville, Texas at the Collinsville cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation in Muriel's name to the Alzheimer's Association at http://www.alz.org/. Online condolences may be made at www.Sparkman-Hillcrest.com.
