Murray Lee Norris Sr., age 80, of Wilmington, went to be with the Lord Friday, August 28, 2015.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Norris, son: Murray Lee Norris, Jr: daughter, Karla Norris Williams: Brothers, Jerry Norris, Willie Norris and Clayton Norris and Sister, Lucille Roy.
Murray is survived by two daughters, Tammie Hardee and husband Bryan and Cindy Caroll and husband Scott: one brother, Bobby Norris: two sisters, Louis Norris Murray Walters and Mary Warfield, Grandchildren, Bridget, Tara, Scotty, Kendra, Chris and Justin: Great Grandchildren, Wade and Carter and Nathaniel.
In his younger years, Murray loved to play pool and shag at White Lake. He met the love of his life, Shirley, there and after just six dates they were married. They spent 57 years happily married. Over those years, they owned several businesses, Tasty Freeze and Shirley's Burger House and they retired at the young age of 40. They spent many years traveling the United States and enjoying their children and grandchildren. He was a member of Pine Valley Church of God. In his later years, he enjoyed spending his time at church, dancing and fishing. He was a sweet, caring and loving man, he will be missed dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1 at the funeral home.
