Obituary

Myrna Albert Perkins passed from this life to her heavenly home September 1, 2014. She was loved and cherished by all who knew her as evidenced by her recent 80th birthday being celebrated by receiving 80 unique gifts from family around the USA. Those family members were primarily nieces and nephews of her first husband James Johnson, who predeceased Myrna, as did her father James T Albert and mother Mabel Schlender Albert and brother Vernon Albert all from Wisconsin. She is survived by a sister, Joyce Albert and current husband Leo G. Perkins. On a trip to the homestead built by her father Myrna discovered sheet music left by her mother...
Perkins.

On a trip to the homestead built by her father Myrna discovered sheet music left by her mother who was an accomplished pianist. She brought it to Tallahassee and bought an electronic keyboard and renewed her own piano skilled to the delight and enjoyment of husband, Leo.
Myrna's love of music included an experience of hearing a program by the founding director of the St Olaf College Choral department. Over the past 20 years the St Olaf choir performed in Tallahassee which she and Leo and friends Cal and Murlene Vice enjoyed attending. They also, regularly attended music and choral programs at FSU and in the churches of the community.
Leo was raised in an orphanage and has very little family. On the occasion of a family reunion of Myrna's parents families the organizers of the reunion included Leo in the family tree and he was deeply appreciative, as he had never been included in a family tree before. Myrna's love and appreciation for family followed her in all she did.
Myrna and her husband James Johnson were highly respected Motel and Property Managers and enjoyed traveling extensively in Europe and the USA.

Myrna became active in the Tallahassee Senior Center group of Tai Chi exercise class for several years and became a volunteer leader by attending additional training classes at the local Tai Chi Center. She and husband made friends where ever they went and enjoyed several years of attending FSU Baseballs games, seated right behind home plate.

A memorial of Myrna's life will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Culley Funeral Home on Riggins Road, with a time for fellowship and sharing to follow. Online condolences may be extended at www.culleymeadowwood.com, or through www.tallahassee.com.
