Myron Marder Obituary

MARDER, MYRON DAVID, 91, died December 24, 2012.  He was the wife of Ruth (Stone) Marder.  Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Isaac and Ann (Winograd) Marder, he was a lifelong resident of the New Bedford area. 



A graduate of Bryant College, Mr. Marder was an accountant and the owner of a fleet of fishing boats.  He was a leader in the fishing industry, retiring in 1990.  Mr. Marder served in the US 5th Army in the Italian Campaign during WWII.  He was a member of Tifereth Israel Congregation and served as past president of the United Jewish Appeal and Israeli Bonds.  He was a member of the Jewish War Veterans, and the Wamsutta Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Masons.  He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. 



Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Daniel Jay Marder and his wife Lisa of Boca Raton, FL and Brian I. Marder and his wife Lisa of Dartmouth; and his grandchildren, Ross, Eric and Brad.  He was the brother of the late June Barroll, Miriam Handler, and Razel Small.  Funeral services will be TODAY, December 27th at Tifereth Israel Congregation, 145 Brownell Ave., New Bedford.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Tifereth Israel Congregation or the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home.  Shiva will be observed at the home of Lisa and Brian Marder on Thursday from 5-8 PM.
