Myrtle Jean Hoffman, 89, of Lima, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015, at Lima Convalescent Home. She was born on August 21, 1926, in Vanceburg, KY to Charles & Ruth (Kinder) Jones, who preceded her in death. On August 20, 1950, she married Walter Hoffman who preceded her in death on February 7, 1992. Jean had an entrepreneurial spirit and was the owner of the Mademoiselle Dress Shop in Mansfield, OH, and later moved to Sun City Center, FL to open Bay Fashions in Ruskin, FL. She was member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Mansfield, and long time member and past president of the Soroptimist of Mansfield. Jean loved to cook,...
Myrtle Jean Hoffman, 89, of Lima, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015, at Lima Convalescent Home.
She was born on August 21, 1926, in Vanceburg, KY to Charles & Ruth (Kinder) Jones, who preceded her in death. On August 20, 1950, she married Walter Hoffman who preceded her in death on February 7, 1992. Jean had an entrepreneurial spirit and was the owner of the Mademoiselle Dress Shop in Mansfield, OH, and later moved to Sun City Center, FL to open Bay Fashions in Ruskin, FL. She was member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Mansfield, and long time member and past president of the Soroptimist of Mansfield. Jean loved to cook, watch cable news, and enjoyed playing basketball in high school. Jean was a part of a close-knit family, and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, siblings, and cousins. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
Jean is survived by her three children, John (Diane) Hoffman, of Lima, Marc (Lora) Hoffman of Mansfield, and Elisabeth (Robert) Hoffman-Dickinson, of Toledo, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, October 29, 2015, at SIFERD-ORIANS FUNERAL HOME, with Pastor Charlotte Hefner officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday October 28, 2015, at the funeral home, from 6-8 P.M., and one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park Cemetery.
