Obituary

(Myrtle) Faye McNabb, long time resident of Shasta Lake, California, died at home peacefully in her sleep Monday, June 9, 2014. She would have been 87 in October. Her health had been declining recently. Faye was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 36 years, Doyle L. McNabb. Faye was born October 16, 1927 in Texas, second in a family of 10 children.

Her family followed and picked crops most of her childhood. When asked how the Great Depression affected her, she would say "oh honey, we were so poor we never even noticed it." In spite of her impoverished beginnings, Faye had a strong belief in the American Dream. She raised eight children with little help and instilled in her children that they could obtain a better life through education and hard work. She, herself, received her high school diploma along with her youngest child in 1970 and was still the first in her family to receive a high school diploma.

Faye loved God, her church, her family, her plants and motorcycle riding with her husband. They once rode across the nation and back stacking up 7,476 miles. Her yard was the talk of the neighborhood and she was often seen out working in it after working an 8 hour day and before going in to fix dinner for her husband. She worked all her life and finished up her working career with 25 years working housekeeping and in the linen room at Mercy Hospital. Since her rebirth in Christ she worked tirelessly teaching Sunday school, vacation bible school, nursery, where ever her church needed her.
Faye had been a member of First Baptist Church of Shasta Lake since 2007.

Faye is survived by her eight children; Jerry Kuykendall, Crescent City; Kirk Kuykendall, Sacramento; Jack Kuykendall, Laytonville; Ron Kuykendall, Winnemucca, NV; Brenda McNabb, Chico; Ken Kuykendall, Sacramento; Faye McNabb, Shasta Lake; Sue Richards, Redding; 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 5 great, great, grandchildren and too numerous nephews and nieces to name.

Faye helped so many through the years and will be missed greatly.

In lieu of flowers, please send all donations to The Parking Lot Fund, c/o Pastor Harold Luke, First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 965, Shasta Lake, Ca 96019.
A Celebration of her Life will be held later in the month.
