Nadine was born in San Francisco, CA and graduated from Mercy High School. She earned a degree in Math from San Francisco State where she met her husband Bob. They began their relationship while preparing the answer key for the Statistics textbook their professor was writing. They married in October, 1964 at St. Cecilia's Church in San Francisco. After marrying, they settled down in Mountain View where Karen and Lynne were born. After briefly transferring back East for Bob's work and having Jean they settled in San Jose. She stayed home with the girls, dedicating her life to them. She returned to work when Jean was in the fourth grade. She worked for schools in the San Jose Unified School District as a librarian and media specialist. This allowed her to be home after school and during the summers for the girls. She was so supportive of all of their sports and activities, driving all over the valley and never missing an event. Nadine's love of numbers continued throughout her life. She was the Secretary and Bookkeeper at St. Joseph of Cupertino School for 24 years before she retired in 2008. She was known for her amazing accuracy, efficiency and her ability to juggle a million things at once. Recently, she had taken on a few bookkeeping clients that kept her mind sharp and provided her with some "funny money." She touched the lives of all the people who met her and knew her. People describe her as a role model. She was kind, calm, dependable, generous, and had a welcoming spirit. She also had a quiet wit that made people laugh. She was absolutely devoted to her family above all things and her tender-heartedness shone through her love for them and her many friends. She was a devoted wife and loved Bob very much. They were "love-birds" until he passed in 2012. She maintained her family traditions with her grandkids including dying Easter eggs and decorating gingerbread houses. She was always willing to go the extra mile to ensure the grandkids were having fun at her house. Adventures for them included bubbles, play dough, make-up parties, water play and tea parties. She also loved taking the kids to Bonfante Gardens as a special outing for them. Her hobbies included reading, bowling, crafting, playing cards, and lunching with her friends. She was a master at word and number puzzles. She also made time after retiring to volunteer once a week in the rectory at Santa Theresa Church. Nadine is predeceased in death by her husband of 48 years, Robert Brown and her grandson Joey Sims. She is survived by her devoted daughters and sons-in-law Karen and Jay Sims, Lynne and Steve Graw, and Jean and Mark Wilson. She is also survived by her five grandchildren whom she adored, Taylor Sims, Sam and A.J. Wilson, and Zachary and Emily Graw. Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Mass on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph of Cupertino Church, 10110 N. De Anza Blvd. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the St. Joseph of Cupertino School's L.I.F.E. (Legacies In Faith and Education) Fund. This fund helps St. Joseph of Cupertino's mission to pass on their faith and values through quality education. Donations will be set aside for scholarships for families who otherwise could not afford to send their child to catholic school. You may donate online at www.sjcschool.org or contacting the school at 408-252-6441.
