Nancy was born in Avoca, New York on October 2, 1935. She received her nursing degree from Ohio State University where she met and married a young doctor, Samuel Chaney, in 1956. Nancy raised four daughters while traveling the world as an Army wife. She was a caring and generous wife, mother and grandmother, a loyal friend to many and an animal lover. Nancy was a certified dog trainer in San Antonio who moved to Bastrop after the death of her husband. She loved to encourage and share her children's and grandchildren's adventures and accomplishments and was an enthusiastic supporter of the Bastrop County 4-H K-9 Cadets, from whom she received the 2012 Friend of the 4-H Award.
