Nancy Vosburgh Rhyne, 83, passed away on September 21, 2014, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. She was born on October 4, 1930, in Shomokin, Pennsylvania. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and the University of Maryland with a Master of Public Health. Nancy met her beloved husband, Jimmie Lee Rhyne while working in Baltimore, Md.. They moved to Raleigh, NC in 1976. Education and health were causes that Nancy invested her time. Nancy Vosburgh Rhyne, 83, passed away on September 21, 2014, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. She was born on October 4, 1930, in Shomokin, Pennsylvania. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and the University of Maryland with a Master of Public Health. Nancy met her beloved husband, Jimmie Lee Rhyne while working in Baltimore, Md.. They moved to Raleigh, NC in 1976. Education and health were causes that Nancy invested her time. She served on a number of boards over the years including President of North Carolina PTA. Nancy also enjoyed spending time with her family, serving others through her church, and knitting afghans. Survivors include her daughters, Nanette Lewis Rhyne of Raleigh, NC and Sandra Lee Rhyne of Columbia, SC; her step-children, Carol Rhyne Johnson (Billy) of Bradenton, FL, Harris Rhyne (Debbie) of Bradenton, FL, Theresa Marie Rhyne of Durham, NC; her sister, Betty Jane Mette (Howell), of Camp Hill, PA; and lots of nieces and nephews.. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Dr. Jimmie Lee Rhyne Scholarship at the UNC School of Global Public Health, or a charity of your choice.
