Nathan Thatcher Watson, 83, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2012. Mr. Watson was born in Macon where he lived all of his life. He is survived by Patricia "Patsy" Clark Watson, his beloved wife and best friend of 62 years, his three children, and six grandchildren whom he loved very much. He was the son of the late William Harrison and Hannah Thatcher Watson and was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Watson Steele and a brother, William Harrison Watson, Jr. Mr. Watson graduated from Lanier High School where he played football and was a Captain in the ROTC. Nathan Thatcher Watson, 83, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2012. Mr. Watson was born in Macon where he lived all of his life. He is survived by Patricia "Patsy" Clark Watson, his beloved wife and best friend of 62 years, his three children, and six grandchildren whom he loved very much. He was the son of the late William Harrison and Hannah Thatcher Watson and was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Watson Steele and a brother, William Harrison Watson, Jr.

Mr. Watson graduated from Lanier High School where he played football and was a Captain in the ROTC. He was a graduate of Virginia Military Institute where he was on the football and golf teams. He was a member of Vineville United Methodist Church where he served on various committees including the Administrative Board and Board of Trustees. He was a devoted member and teacher of the George S. Jones Bible Class. He was very active in the Boy Scouts of America after receiving the Eagle Scout Award at age 13 and also the Silver Beaver Award for outstanding volunteer service.

Mr. Watson began his career as a general contractor and then entered into the real estate appraisal field. He was a member of the Appraisal Institute and held the MAI designation. He was a member of the former Society of Real Estate Appraisers and held the SRPA designation. He was also a former member of the American Society of Real Estate Counselors and was a Georgia State Certified Real Property Appraiser. He served several terms as a director on the Board of The Appraisal Institute.

In addition to his wife, Patsy, Mr. Watson is survived by his children: Murray Watson Manocheo and her husband Nic, Layle Watson Argo and her husband Bill, and Nathan Thatcher Watson, Jr. and his wife Gina, all of Macon; and his grandchildren: Sara Ann Manocheo, William Vernon Argo, III and his wife Madison, Thatcher Watson Argo and his wife Emmy, Jenny Watson Barfield and her husband Carter, Nathan Thatcher Watson, III, Thomas Clark Watson, all of whom adored him as "Boppy". He is also survived by his sister, Mary Watson Franke of Farmington, VA.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 14th at Vineville United Methodist Church following a private graveside service for family at Riverside Cemetery. Dr. Marcus Tripp will officiate. Visitation will be held at the home of Bill and Layle Argo, 262 Country Club Road, from 5 - 7 pm on Thursday, December 13th. The family requests donations to be made to Vineville United Methodist Church, 2045 Vineville Avenue, Macon 31204.
