Nell Bryan McDonald, 92, passed away on August 9, 2017. She was born on February 18, 1925 to Tommy Joe and Jewey Elizabeth Bryan. In 1942 Nell graduated from Columbus High School in Columbus, GA. She worked as a secretary for Bibb Manufacturing Company in Bibb City, AL. On August 31, 1945, Nell married the love of her life, Elton Ellis McDonald. They spent most of their married years, and raised their four children in Decatur, AL. Nell was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and participating in her children's various activities. Nell and her family were very active longtime members of Central Baptist Church. There she participated in Bible studies, vocal choir, handbell choir, and ukulele choir. Nell loved people and she was very social. She enjoyed ceramics, playing bridge, and rook. Nell will be missed by all who knew her.
Nell is preceded in death by her parents and husband of 66 years, Elton Ellis McDonald.
Nell is survived by her children, Carol Powell (Phillip), Joye Musselman (Tom), Jeff McDonald, and Brandon McDonald (Kimberly); nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to Harriet Cox and Jewel Quillman, devoted caregivers for several years.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 12, 2017, at 2:00 pm at Central Baptist Church with Dr. Rob Jackson officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
