Obituary

Nellie Pearl Allen, 88, of Evansville, passed away Friday, October 4, 2013, at her home. She was born January 13, 1925, to the late Thomas and Ethel (Hollis) Blackburn in Henshaw, Kentucky. She was a member of Morningside Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She had worked at the ship yards, Chrysler Motors, and for over thirty years was a beautician and had a shop in her home. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, baking, family vacations, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Nellie Pearl Allen, 88, of Evansville, passed away Friday, October 4, 2013, at her home. She was born January 13, 1925, to the late Thomas and Ethel (Hollis) Blackburn in Henshaw, Kentucky.

She was a member of Morningside Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She had worked at the ship yards, Chrysler Motors, and for over thirty years was a beautician and had a shop in her home. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, baking, family vacations, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Nellie was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; daughter-in-law, Patricia Allen; and eight brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her sons, Greg (Tammy) Allen and Michael (Marsha) Allen, both of Newburgh; daughter, Lisa (Dave) Kohl of Evansville; grandchildren, Christopher Allen, Michelle (Gary) King, Dane (Christy) Allen, Lindsey (Cody) Burress and Matthew (Allison) Kohl; great-grandchildren, Easton King, Elle King, Adalynn Burress and Conner Allen; several nieces and nephews; and best friend, Irene Powers.

Services will be 1:00 PM Monday, October 7, 2013, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. James Messer, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
