Neubert Purser, 90, died March 30, 2013 at home. Neubert was born October 26, 1922 in Union County. He was one of six children born to Adam and Daisy Purser. He worked on his father's farm until going into the Army. After basic training he was sent to the European Theater in World War II. He was wounded in battle on the Roer River in Germany. He was flown to England and was hospitalized for eleven months. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his service. Neubert Purser, 90, died March 30, 2013 at home.
Neubert was born October 26, 1922 in Union County. He was one of six children born to Adam and Daisy Purser. He worked on his father's farm until going into the Army. After basic training he was sent to the European Theater in World War II. He was wounded in battle on the Roer River in Germany. He was flown to England and was hospitalized for eleven months. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his service.
Upon returning home, he married his high school sweetheart, Juanita Strawn, and they had 52 years of happy marriage and had three children. After serving his country he graduated from Kings College and worked for 36 years for Lance, Inc.
He was a member of First Baptist Church Matthews for over 50 years serving as both deacon and Sunday school teacher.
Neubert was a hardworking man who provided for his family with love and determination. He will be greatly missed.
He was predeceased by his wife Juanita.
Survivors include his children; Mike Purser (Carol), Janet Harrell (Jerry) and Lynn Storti (Bob), Grandchildren; Josh (Amy) Purser, Jamie (Sarah) Purser, Kelly (Andy) Jan, Lindsay Paige Knowles, Jay (Angela) Harrell and Courtnie Harrell, Great Grandchildren; C.J. Nixon, Hanna and Caroline Jan, Knowles Taylor, Adam, Michael, Luke and Gwen Purser and sister, Jean Jackson; as well as his special friend, Kate Williams.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013 at McEwen Mint Hill Chapel 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Rd. Charlotte, NC 28227. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Friday, April 5, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Matthews 185 S. Trade St. Matthews, NC 28105. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park with military honors. Memorials may be made in his honor to First Baptist Church Matthews P.O. Box 248 Matthews, NC 28106.
