Nicholas F. Carsillo, 74, of Naples, FL, died unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, November 4, 2012.

He was born in Belleville, NJ on November 25, 1937, the son of Helen and John Carsillo. He was a 50 year resident of New Jersey, and married his high school sweetheart, Marion Jago, on April 18, 1959.

Nick had retired at the age of 46 after 27 years at Engelhard Ind. At the time of his retirement, he held the position of Vice President and Secretary of Engelhard Metals, President of Oliver Warehouse, Assistant to the Vice President of Precious Metals Management, and Division Traffic Manager. He was also an accomplished commodities trader of precious metals at Tower II, NYC.

When Nick was young, he served in the New Jersey National Guard for six years and became the New Jersey state "light weight" boxing champion. He also joined the Knights of Columbus, Polish-American Club, and became President and Coach of the local Little League.

Marion and Nick relocated to Marco Island, FL in 1987 until the end of 2003. On Marco, Nick was involved in the Marco Cruise Club, the ItalianAmerican Club, MITA, Mens Club and also began volunteering at the Immokalee Soup Kitchen, which he continued until the present day. He also enjoyed coaching T-Ball while on Marco.

He was a current proud member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, ELKS, and The Moose Lodge. He had a passion for politics his whole life and became very involved locally.

Currently residing in Fiddler's Creek, Naples, Nicholas leaves his loving wife, Marion of 53 years; son, John Carsillo of Atlanta, GA; daughters, Diane Synder of Portsmooth, VA, Jeanne and Steven Schwerd of Freehold, NJ, Joanne Carsillo of Columbia, SC; and six adoring grandchildren, Benjamin Snyder, Victoria Snyder, Nicolette Carsillo, Jacqueline Carsillo, Danielle Amis, and Rachel Schwerd.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, and many aunts and uncles.

Nick was known as a "chef extraordinaire." His extreme passion for cooking throughout his life was his way of giving back. He enjoyed cooking at the soup kitchens and was known as "The Soup Man." He enjoyed cooking lavish meals for his friends and family, who always asked for the secret recipes. Nick kindly taught cooking classes to anyone willing to learn.

A memorial Mass will be held at St. Finbarr Parish on November 9th at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Finbarr Parish, 13520 Tamiami Trail East, Naples, FL 34114 or the Guadalupe Center, 509 Hope Circle, Immokalee, FL 34142.
