Nobuko Toyama Andersen was born September 11, 1926. On November 29, 2013, Mrs. Andersen passed into the arms of the love of her life, Arthur E. Andersen at the age of 87 in El Paso, Texas with her grandson William Arthur Andersen by her side. Our great appreciation to the quick response of the fireman of station 22 and the valiant efforts by Providence Hospital staff. The family would like to recognize the 23 years that Janet-Marie Andersen dedicated as her mom's sole caregiver. Mrs. Andersen graduated from Soshin Baptist Girls School, Yokohama, Japan in 1944 at the age of 17. She was the first women to be accepted to Meiji Law School, Tokyo, Japan. The first Japanese Police Women.
Because of her expertise in the English language, she served as the liaison between the Japanese Police and SCAP (Supreme Command Allied Powers- The occupation forces under Gen. Douglas MacArthur
On February 14, 1951, Miss. Toyama became Mrs. Arthur E Andersen, the name she proudly proclaimed till the end. Mrs. Andersen was a long time member of the Country Club Garden Club. On December 1981, she graduated with high honors from UTEP and was a Phi Kappa Phi. She was the perfect wife, mom, grandma and great- grandma. A very proud American.
Mrs. Andersen is preceded in death by her husband Arthur E. Andersen, parents Kengo Toyama and Masuko Sasaki Toyama, brother Tsunemichi Toyama, Takamichi Toyama, sister Yasuko Toyama and sisters-in-law. Survivors include William Henry Andersen (Margaret), James Kengo Andersen, Kimberly Andersen, John Andersen (Charlotte) and Janet- Marie Andersen, 10 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2013 from 5 to 9 pm at Martin Funeral Home West. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 11 am at Martin Funeral Home West. Burial to follow at 1 pm at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Martin Funeral Home West, 128 N. Resler Dr. El Paso, Texas 79912. www.MartinFuneralHomeWest.com.
