ST. MARTINVILLE –Services will be conducted for Nolan Joseph Blanchard, age 62, at 10:00 am Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Fr. Richard Fabre officiating. Inurnment will be held privately at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Tuesday with a Rosary at 6:30 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Wednesday until service time.
A native of St. Martin Parish and resident of Abbeville, Mr. Blanchard passed away Sunday, January 24, 2010 at his residence.
Nolan was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Okinawa during the Vietnam War. He was also an avid Saints fan.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Debbie Gautreau Blanchard of Abbeville; his children, Yancy Blanchard and wife Melissa of Arnaudville, Justin Blanchard and wife Angie of New Orleans, Josh Blanchard and wife Shauntel of Cecilia, and Melissa Micu and husband Ovige of Breaux Bridge; 13 grandchildren; and his brothers and sisters, Charles and Elsie Blanchard of Catahoula, William and Jeanettte Blanchard of Henderson, James and Judy Blanchard of Catahoula, John Blanchard of Henderson, Helen and Paul Simon of Loreauville, Margaret and Ronnie Daigle of Cecelia, Murphy Blanchard of Catahoula, Durphy and Louella Blanchard of Catahoula, Joel Blanchard of Cecilia, Allen and Cindy Blanchard of Catahoula and Wilton Walker of Covington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Malvina Latiolais Blanchard; and his sister, Grace Bellot.
