Norma Gray went home to be with the Lord on November 20, after a fun day of Christmas shopping with her family. She was born in 1934 in Pocatello, Idaho, to James and Viola Waltman. When she was eight, her family moved to Los Angeles, where she would eventually meet and marry her wonderful husband, Allen Gray, in 1953. They had two daughters, Linda and Laurie, moved to Placerville in 1963, and were blessed with their son, Larry, in 1967. Norma worked seasonally on Apple Hill, and later full-time for El Dorado County Elections. She was preceded in death by her brother, husband, and daughter. She is survived by her son, Larry Gray of Placerville, daughter, Linda Burris of Sloughhouse, and six grandchildren: Chase Clanton and Quinn Clanton Feigles, Brittany and Allen Burris, and Rachel and Ryan Gray. At her request, no services will be held. Remembrances can be made to a children's ministry, cancer research, or the Mother Theresa Maternity Home in Placerville.

Our Mother

A little girl of eleven walked into church,
she had come by herself that morning;
the Lord drew her there since He knew very well
that deep in her heart was a longing.

She invited the Lord to be her Savior
and began a journey to fulfill His plan;
her faith grew stronger with each passing day
knowing she was guided by His loving Hand.

She grew up and married a wonderful man,
a joyful mother she was destined to be;
when each child was born she rejoiced and was glad
so grateful the Lord had blessed her with three.

When we were young she held us close
and we could hear her say:
"I've dedicated your life to the Lord
to serve Him everyday."

As the years went by we watched our mom
as she taught us how to live;
she showed us that in order to receive
the first thing we must do is give.

She daily sacrificed to meet our needs
and fulfill our hearts' desires;
she gave her time, her talents, her possessions and love
above and beyond what was required.

On her knees we saw her spend many hours
as her prayers rose up to heaven;
she never gave up but pressed on in faith
until an answer was given.

In difficult times of sorrow and loss
we saw how her faith remained true;
she held onto the Lord with all of her heart
knowing His grace would bring her through.

With wisdom, integrity, courage, compassion
and patience we watched her behave;
she enlightened the path of her family and others –
our characters were shaped by the example she gave.

She always worked hard giving all she could give
whether the task was small or great;
by watching her faithfulness and dedication to all
we learned that excellence was a Godly trait.

Unconditional love was our shelter at home
and her heart went with us we knew;
she was an expression of God's devotion to His own
and this love was the foundation on which we grew.

So when the journey is ended and her work is done
on this truth our mother can rest:
she was a virtuous woman of priceless worth
and her children rose up and called her blessed.
